How goats can create a cycle for Livelihood and Sustainability. Recently Sikandar went to the cattle market and purchased thirty female goats. These were destined to be provided to the landless and poor women of the Mundaragi Taluk for income generation and livelihood. In Kelur Village 19 goats were provided and in Basapur 11 goats.
It will become a cycle of livelihood as many of these goats are pregnant. Once they give birth, the baby goats when grown a little will be given to other women to assist them with their animal husbandry business.
Each goat cost approximately INR 7500 and the beneficiaries give each a contribution of 20% with the understanding that the first baby goat that arrives will be given on to another woman.
SRDS has been able to carry out this work with the valued support of the SBI Foundation who are their partners in the Gram Seva Rural Development Program in the Mundaragi Taluk.
The SBI Foundation has supported many such sustainability projects in this area – including support for the underserved for the medical needs during the COVID time.
